My days are filled with dog walking and gardening with of a bit of housework in between and we’ve only 2 days left before the long haul of the summer holidays its seems to have crept up on me like a bite on the bum ouch !!
The garden is producing plenty of vegetables, today we had our first dwarf cucumber and between me and my eldest son have eated it all. The tomatoes are growing well just looking forward to them all ripening up now, the poor sweetcorn took a bit of a bashing the last few days in the wind so we’ve tied them all loosely to canes for just a little support, but they are coming on fantastically and we now have several little tufts of fluff, where the ears of corn are growing.
When we started our project of turning the back garden into an allotment, i really didn’t realise how much fun and pleasure we would get aswell as the sore aching joints and blisters but its all been worth it. Along the way we’ve made mistakes but have learnt and thrive to do bigger and better next year. We have plans already to build at least another 3 raised beds, a greenhouse and a corner raised rockery with water feature ( this will actually help dispose of a massive pile of rubble). At the same time the top fencing on all 3 sides needs replacing, we’ll build areas for composting and install a water butt at the side of the green house. Omg that sounds like loads still to do… but theres no rush we’re still be here tomorow.
Only a few days ago i was sadly reminded that there was ONLY 160days till christmas …… aaaahhhh panic i’ve not a penny saved so as of today i’m going to put away £4 a day and fingers crossed there’ll be enough in the pot for all of christmas. At the same time to help support putting money away we’re going to try and shop and cook more wisely and an action plan is in the planning
Today has been a good day
